University of Alabama's
English and First Year Writing Program.

University of Alabama's English Homepage

     As part of my teaching assistantship, I was assigned to a team with other graduate students to completely overhaul the University of Alabama's English web page.

     After struggling to design a site by committee, I suggested we call in professional help, and I enlisted the aid of an old friend from Mississippi State, Angela Mitchell, to give us a hand.

     In addition to helping to organize the entire site into folders, my main contribution was to make sure the Flash menu system worked, and in particular, I'm proud of creating a system that uses HTML variables that pass to the Flash menu and HTML which page the user is viewing.

The First Year Writing Program

     During my final semester, Carolyn Handa, director of the First Year Writing Program (FWP), asked me if I would help her put up a small page for that program, and I created the following design, which has since been maintained by her.
     The most challenging aspect of this design was that it was my first site built entirely with CSS, and I had never used CSS as a complete layout tool before.
